For now, you can update your Traveling status on your profile so others know you're visiting. Travel mode is on our roadmap and will be available in a future update.

No. Never. lowkey's business model is a flat monthly or annual subscription. We have no advertising model and no incentive to sell your data or show you ads. That's a promise, not a policy that can change next quarter.

Phone verification makes it significantly harder for bots to access lowkey — creating a fake account requires a real, working phone number, which raises the cost and effort for anyone trying to flood the platform. That said, no system is perfect, and we can't guarantee a 100% bot-free experience. What we can guarantee is that we take it seriously: we review reports, act on suspicious accounts quickly, and continue improving our defenses over time.

No. Your data — including your HIV status, location, and messages — is never sold, shared, or passed to any third party, especially to advertisers because lowkey has no incentive to monetize your personal information.

Your phone number is used once — to verify that you're a real person with a real phone. Once verification is complete, your number is permanently deleted from our servers. We do not store it, sell it, or use it for any other purpose. We can't contact you by phone or text after signup because we no longer have your number.

During signup, we send a one-time SMS code to your number. Once you enter the correct code and your account is created, the number is deleted. We never store your actual phone number in our database.

No. Browse on your own terms. Nobody gets notified when you view their profile.

Yes — beta testers get 2 months free from the day they sign up. No credit card required. When we officially launch, there will be a 30-day free trial per phone number.

When your trial ends, you can still browse and view profiles, but you won't be able to message, update your profile, or use features until you subscribe. If you don't subscribe within 7 days of your trial ending, your account will be permanently deleted.

No. Once phone verification launches, the free trial is a one-time offer per phone number. If you sign up again with the same number, you'll be prompted to subscribe directly at the phone verification step.

You have a 7-day grace period after your trial ends where you can still browse lowkey. After that, your account is permanently deleted. You'll receive an email warning you 24 hours before deletion.

Yes — you can cancel anytime. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period, then your account moves to expired status. Your profile and messages are preserved for 7 days before deletion.

Phone verification is the most effective way to keep bots, fake profiles, and scammers off the platform. One phone number, one account — making it significantly harder for bad actors to create multiple accounts or run bot campaigns. Phone verification is not required during beta but will be required at launch.

No. Once your number is deleted after verification, we have no way to contact you by phone or text. All communication from lowkey goes through your email address.

If your account was banned for violating our Community Guidelines, a one-way hash of your phone number is stored to prevent re-registration. This hash cannot be reversed — it is mathematically impossible to recover your actual phone number from it.
